Notes:
The only elemental metal that is liquid at room temperature. It has silvery-
white color. Electricity discharged through mercury vapor produces a bluish
glow with lots of ultraviolet light; a property utilized in ultraviolet,
fluorescent, and mercury-vapor lamps. It is sometimes used in dental fillings.
Mercury is toxic. It can be lethal if the vapors are breathed, come in contact
with skin, or ingested as a soluable compound.
